LEAD: Shares of the MGM/UA Communications Company dropped today on the New York Stock Exchange despite a surprise $1.35 billion acquisition offer Wednesday by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. MGM/UA shares closed down 62.5 cents, at $20.625. Shares of the News Corporation, the holding company for Mr. Murdoch's media interests, closed down $1 at $24.
